Fringe Benefits

In addition to the standard resident benefits (i.e. stipends, insurance, paid leave/sick days etc.), this program offers:

Paid Conference Leave

Up to five conference days per year are available for scholarly activities. Additional leave may also be approved under select circumstances. Residents who serve as program representatives to the AAP and FCAAP generally attend the national AAP and FCAAP conferences. The program provides sponsorship for residents presenting their scholarly work. These must be approved by the program director.

Paid Interview Leave

The program provides 5 days off for fellowship interviews/jobs during residency. Additional days off can be taken using accrued vacation days.

Maternity/Paternity Leave

Parental leave is available to eligible residents in the form of accrued sick and vacation time. In addition, they may also do a 2 or 4 week independent study elective subsequently.

Windows Surface Pro tablets are provided by Wolfson Children’s Hospital for each resident at the start of their residency training. These tablets are theirs to keep once residency training is completed.

Educational Resources

The program provides multiple resources to the residents to study throughout the three years of training and help them with board preparation. These resources include:

  • Pediatrics in Review and PREP
  • NEJM Knowledge+ Pediatrics Board Review question bank
  • ExamMaster (available through the Borland library)

In addition, we also have an on-site board review series run by experienced faculty.
