OBGYN department and Dr. Kaunitz selected for ACOG Award

The department of obstetrics and gynecology is the recipient of the 2010 American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Roy M. Pitkin Award.

Andrew M. Kaunitz, M.D., FACOG, professor and associate chair of the department and associate program director of the obstetrics and gynecology residency, published the winning article, Levonorgestrel-Releasing Intrauterine System or Medroxyprogesterone for Heavy Menstrual Bleeding: A Randomized Controlled Trial. Obstet Gynecol. 2010;116:625-32.

This $5,000 award recognizes outstanding research published in Obstetrics & Gynecology. Each year, a distinguished panel of former editorial board members from the journal selects the top four articles published in the preceding year.

The award will be presented at this year's American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Annual Clinical Meeting to be held May 1, 2011 in Washington, DC.
