It gives me great pleasure to announce the selection of Dr. Barry M. McCook as chairman of the Department of Radiology, University of Florida College of Medicine –Jacksonville, effective March 1, 2011. He was selected following a national search for this position. Dr. McCook has been serving as interim chair of the department since July 2010 and has performed in an outstanding fashion in that role. In addition to serving as chairman of the department, he will continue as radiology residency program director and chief of service of Shands Jacksonville Medical Center.

Following his training , he practiced radiology in Jacksonville for several years and then was recruited by the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine (UPMC). At UPMC he was an associate professor and served as chairman of radiology at Shadyside Hospital, a major teaching affiliate of the UPMC health system. Dr. McCook is board certified in radiology and his special interests include molecular and functional imaging and PET-CT scanning.

The University of Florida College of Medicine –Jacksonville is privileged to have Barry McCook as the new chairman of radiology and looks forward to great accomplishments from him and his department as he assumes his new role. Please congratulate him and give him your usual support.
