Dat C. Pham, M.D., assistant professor, division of hematology and medical oncology in the department of medicine and program director of the medical oncology fellowship program at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville was recently published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology.

The multicenter study showed that in adults with hyperuricemia or at high risk for tumor lysis syndrome, rasburicase provided control of plasma uric acid more rapidly than allopurinol. Rasburicase was well tolerated as a single agent and in sequential combination with allopurinol.
