Thomas T. Chiu, M.D., M.B.A., professor and chair of the pediatrics department at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville, has been reappointed by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Board of Directors to the Committee on Child Health Financing (COCHF). Dr. Chiu will serve a two year extended term on the national committee beginning on July, 1, 2010.
The COCHF monitors and makes policy recommendations to the AAP Board of Directors related to both private and public financing of health care for children. The Committee also develops resources and information services on managed care for pediatricians. In addition, it collaborates with other committees to influence the monies involved in state determination of Medicaid, Maternal and Child Health, and other government, or private, health care financing programs.
