Nipa Shah, MD, named as Woman of Influence by Jacksonville Business Journal

Nipa Shah, MD, professor and chair of the department of community health and family medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville, has been singled out the by the Jacksonville Business Journal as a 2019 Women of Influence honoree.

Shah has been a part of UF Health since 2011 when she took over leadership of the department as an associate professor. She was promoted to professor in 2017.

The Jacksonville Business Journal has been honoring leaders with the Women of Influence Award for 16 years and recognizes those who have made a difference in growing their companies, mentoring the next generation and guiding the area into the future. This year, 21 women in our community were given the distinction.

Shah received her medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine. She did her family medicine internship at Metro Health in Cleveland, Ohio, and completed her residency in family medicine at the University of New Mexico.

Shah’s clinical special interests are global health, diabetes, hidradenitis and female sexual dysfunction.
