Inpatient surgical services now available at UF Health North

The 92-bed tower expansion includes 48 medical and surgical rooms on its fourth and fifth floors that accommodate patients undergoing inpatient procedures.

Undergoing surgery is never easy, but patients at UF Health North can take comfort in knowing their procedures are performed by highly skilled experts in a state-of-the-art surgical center at Jacksonville’s newest hospital.

“We are excited to expand our services to include inpatient surgeries for the Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia areas,” said Mark Meadors, business manager of Perioperative Services at UF Health North. “The dedication and exceptional skills of our surgeons, physicians and nurses play a major role in the growing demand for these services.”

In 2015, UF Health North opened a large surgery center that includes five operating rooms, two gastrointestinal endoscopy rooms and two interventional cardiology and radiology rooms. In addition, there are 16 private preoperative rooms, a 16-bay post-anesthesia care unit and 12 private recovery rooms. The new 92-bed tower includes 48 medical and surgical rooms on its fourth and fifth floors that accommodate patients undergoing inpatient procedures.

“UF Health has a strong culture of providing high-quality health care to all patients,” said Zachary Deutch, MD, medical director of Perioperative Services at UF Health North. “Our entire surgical team is committed to providing a positive experience and fostering a soothing environment that will put patients and their loved ones at ease.”

Pain management is provided by anesthesiologists, certified nurse anesthetists and anesthesiologist assistants. They use the latest techniques in pain control, including ultrasound-guided nerve blocks and aggressive anti-nausea therapy.

“No one likes to have surgery, but at UF Health North, we do everything we can to ensure your procedure is as comfortable as possible,” Deutch said.
