The pediatric neurosurgeons in the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville provide state-of-the-art neurosurgical care for infants, children and adolescents in greater Jacksonville, Florida.

Our division primarily provides patient care services at the Walter and Michelle Stys Neuroscience Institute at Wolfson Children’s Hospital, which is ranked in the top 50 nationally in pediatric neurology and neurosurgery by U.S. News & World Report.

Our division provides surgical treatment for an array of disorders of the nervous system, including diseases of the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles. We specialize in the treatment of craniosynostosis and craniofacial disorders; hydrocephalus; epilepsy (seizures); tumors of the nervous system; spasticity; stroke and cerebrovascular disease; and spina bifida.

Patient Care

The University of Florida division of pediatric neurosurgery in Jacksonville provides state-of-the-art neurosurgical care for infants, children and adolescents in Northeast Florida. The division provides outpatient medical services at UF Health Pediatric Neurosurgery – Prudential Drive and inpatient services at Wolfson Children’s Hospital and UF Health Jacksonville.

Our board-certified pediatric neurosurgeons provide surgical treatment options related to disorders of the nervous system, which includes diseases of the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles.

In 2005, the Lucy Gooding Charitable Foundation Trust provided the funding necessary to help establish the UF Health Pediatric Neurosurgery Center to help solidify a regional center for comprehensive neurosurgical care for children.

Education

The division of pediatric neurosurgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville offers an undergraduate medical education rotation for fourth-year UF medical students. In collaboration with the UF Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, our division faculty also offer graduate medical training as part of the Pediatric Maxillofacial and Craniofacial Fellowship Program.

Research

The division is committed to fostering faculty research. Our institution has been engaged in clinically applied research for many years and is enriched by the presence of faculty who demonstrate excellence in performing research and in training new investigators.
