Vascular Neurology Fellowship

The mission of our program is to teach physicians to be competent in the art and science of vascular neurology by training fellows who provide expert care, understand the vascular neurosciences and participate in team-based care to provide optimal patient care and outcomes. This aligns with the mission of the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville, which is "to heal, to comfort, to educate and to discover through quality health care, elimination of health disparities, medical education, innovation and research". The UF Health system, the College of Medicine and the neurology department dedicate our work to improving the lives of those we touch through quality health care, medical education, innovation and research.

Program Aims

  • Integrate clinical skills with an understanding of stroke pathophysiology to provide consistently high quality care to all patients, regardless of their socioeconomic background
  • Lead interdisciplinary and inter-professional care teams that are focused on providing safe and optimal care to patients with acute stroke and to patients with chronic cerebrovascular disorders
  • Approach the practice of Vascular Neurology with a scholarly attitude
  • Serve as an effective educator of health care professionals who provide care to stroke patients in the pre-hospital, hospital, rehabilitation and outpatient settings
