Program Mission and Aims

Mission Statement

The mission of our program is to develop highly competent and ethical practitioners and leaders in clinic and academic interventional cardiology. We strive to promote excellence in education and patient care by providing outstanding clinical training in the setting of a rich academic environment.

Program Aims

The aims for the interventional cardiology fellowship are listed below:

  • To train interventional cardiologists who provide expertise in diagnosis and management of adult patients with coronary artery disease.
  • To train interventional cardiologists who provide expertise in invasive percutaneous approaches for the diagnosis and interventional treatment of coronary artery disease.
  • To train interventional cardiologists who will have the basic skill sets to diagnose and manage adult patients with peripheral arterial disease and structural heart disease.
  • To provide the interventional cardiology training fellow with opportunity to develop into educators in the field of interventional cardiology and to serve as a valuable resource in their community.
  • To graduate interventional cardiologists who can successfully incorporate scholarly activity into their evidence-based practice.
  • To graduate interventional cardiologists who can successfully incorporate principles of quality assessment and improvement projects focused on improving patient outcomes that will nurture collegial collaborative efforts across professional boundaries that lasts well beyond fellowship training.
