The three-year Hematology Oncology Fellowship program at The University of Florida College of Medicine Jacksonville (UFCOM-J) is designed to provide a robust clinical experience in the broad discipline of hematology and oncology so that each fellow will be prepared for either private practice or an academic career.

The program will lead to eligibility in both hematology and oncology subspecialty-certifying examinations. The program strives to produce excellent hematologists and oncologists. We expect this goal to be accomplished through monitored teaching exposure to a wide array of hospital/ambulatory care patient conditions, and tumor boards. Fellows are given the opportunity to experience both academic and private practice settings with rotations at UF Health Jacksonville, UF Health Proton Therapy Institute, and Mayo Clinic Hospital in Florida.

The first year of the program is designed to introduce the fellows to the management of hematology oncology patients, procedural skills, and the initiation of a research project.

The second and third year of the program continues these goals and adds three months of electives designed to give the fellow further in-depth knowledge of specific areas necessary to the development of competency as a sub-specialist in hematology oncology.
