Selection Process

From the completed applications received, the program director will select those individuals invited for personal interview at the UF College of Medicine – Jacksonville campus. Interviews will normally be held between September and early November using a schedule of dates set by the program director.

Invited applicants will undergo a personal interview with the program director and at least two additional cardiology faculty on site. Each interviewer, who has also reviewed all relevant application materials, will record his/her opinion, scoring applicants in areas including academic credentials, scholastic performance, professionalism, clinical competence, research potential, interpersonal skills, consistency of career plans to the goals and objectives of the program and other areas, which would influence potential for success in the fellowship. Following the entire interview schedule for that class, the fellowship committee formally meets to discuss relative merits of each applicant and compile consensus recommendations. The final decision on ranking is made by the program director based on the faculty's recommendations.
