To call another extension from within the Shands Jacksonville telephone system, dial the four-digit number. Commonly accessed numbers can be found in the section entitled "Shands Jacksonville Campus Phone Numbers." Call the Shands Jacksonville Operators for extensions you do not know.
Upon checking into your assigned room, please call the Telecommunications at Ext. 4-7828 to verify the extension in your dormitory room. You may also check page 10 of this handbook as it lists all extension by room number. Do not take for granted that the number on your phone is correct.

Long-Distance Calls
Students are permitted to make business calls to Gainesville at no charge from certain phones. Each of the departments and/or colleges will also allow students (while rotating) to make long-distance calls within the (904) area code. Ask your rotation director or supervisor about this.
Other long-distance calls should be billed to your calling card, your home phone number or collect. You may dial these calls from any extension.
To use your calling card, dial 9+0+area code+seven-digit number. At the tone, dial your calling card number or dial zero for long-distance operator assistance. These calls cannot be billed to Shands Jacksonville.
