Curriculum
The 1-year Vascular Interventional Radiology Fellowship Program's clinical curriculum for the trainee includes primary responsibility for all pre-procedural evaluation, primary operator for performance of procedures and all patient follow-up for the division of Vascular and Interventional Radiology. The curriculum includes daily teaching rounds, discussing the daily cases with the attending vascular interventional radiologist, weekly one-hour lectures given by the attending vascular interventional radiologists to the trainees and residents, and a spring review session performed by the attending interventional radiologists with the graduating senior residents and the trainee covering all aspects of vascular and interventional radiology. Conferences also include multiple weekly multidisciplinary conferences. The rotation schedule includes responsibility for the Vascular and Interventional Radiology service at Shands Jacksonville for 12 months. The trainee will also receive training in CTA and MRA. Experience in Cardiac imaging and in Neuro-Interventions can also made part of the curriculum, if desired by the trainee. The trainees will be on-call every fourth week, always under the direct supervision of a vascular interventional radiologist.
The fellowship is focused on clinical care and treatment of the interventional patient including pre-procedure work-up, performance of the procedure and post-operative care.
