Today, Nemours' staff draws on the Nemours legacy of experience, knowledge and compassion to provide the highest level of care in a unique child-and family-centered environment.
Wolfson Children's Hospital

The hospital also houses an oncology unit, a bone marrow transplant unit, a neuro-diagnostic unit, which has 24-hour EEG capacity, a state-of-the art cardiac catheterization laboratory and a medical imaging department, which includes radiology, ultrasound, CT and MRI. The Wolfson Children's Hospital provides technologically advanced, family-centered inpatient care in a smoothly functioning, supportive facility. Its design and layout de-emphasizes typical hospital-like features, which some children and parents may find threatening. There is a conference room and a consultation room on each floor. There are two private on-call rooms with private baths on each patient floor. Wolfson Children's Hospital embodies our community's commitment to children's health and to pediatric education and research.
Northeast Florida Pediatric Diabetes Center
The Northeast Florida Pediatric Diabetes Center is a joint venture between Wolfson Children's Hospital and Nemours Children's Clinic-Jacksonville. The Diabetes Center is the only pediatric diabetes center serving all of Northeast and North Central Florida and Southeast Georgia. A grant from Children's Medical Services of Florida has made staffing the Center with key personnel a reality. The center provides the best care possible to the region's growing number of children diagnosed with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. While many insurance plans still do not cover critical components of diabetes care such as outpatient education and dietary support, the CMS grant ensures children treated at the center will receive these integral services regardless of insurance limitations or reimbursement.
The diabetes team includes five physicians from Nemours, two nutritionists, three diabetes nurse educators and an administrative assistant, who all follow nearly 800 children with diabetes. The center has an active insulin pump program (with nearly 200 pump patients) and brings together inpatient and outpatient components of diabetes treatment.
The center includes a learning resource area in the hospital complex, which is complete with Internet access along with diabetes literature and videos for patients and families. It houses two conference rooms, which can join to form one, larger room, a kitchen, which is helpful for teaching meal planning and state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment. It also includes a teaching area in the outpatient department with two teaching rooms. This program is a vital link to the endocrine division and a pivotal source of education and training for endocrine fellows.
