University of Florida Orthopaedic Surgery - Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program

Application Process

For specific eligibility requirements, please refer to our GME brochure.

Our residency program only accepts applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service. ERAS collects the required materials and then transmits these documents from your medical school to our residency program. We do not require any materials beyond the ERAS requirements. Our department participates in the National Residency Matching Program.

Required Documents

  • ERAS Common Application Form
  • A personal statement
  • Three letters of recommendation:
    1. One from the Chair or Chief or Program Director of orthopaedic surgery at your medical school
    2. Two from physicians who are familiar with your work or abilities
  • Dean's letter (downloaded from your school on November 1st)
  • Official medical school transcript
  • USMLE score report

Please do not mail any documents to our program unless we request them from you directly.

Deadline

We must receive your completed application (with the exception of your dean's letter) by November 1, 2007.

Our program director and faculty will review all the required materials and select about 40-45 applicants to attend an interview in Jacksonville. Each of these individuals will be notified through the mail and/or e-mail in November.

We suggest that individuals attending an interview arrive in Jacksonville the night preceding their interview. This will allow interviewees the time to attend a special welcome reception at one of our local restaurants (the exact location will be communicated to all applicants prior to their arrival). Our interview day will begin at 7 a.m. and will end no later than 5 p.m.
