More than 60 residents, faculty honored in Celebration of Excellence in Medical Education

Retired dean Robert C. Nuss, M.D., was honored with the Society of Teaching Scholars Lifetime Achievement Award at the 12th Annual University of Florida Celebration of Excellence in Medical Education in Gainesville.

Nuss retired earlier this year after nearly 40 years on campus, the last 10 as dean of the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville and associate vice president for health affairs for UF.

Ten residents on the Jacksonville campus were awarded Outstanding Resident Teacher awards, and more than 50 Jacksonville faculty earned Exemplary Teacher awards.

In addition, Frank J. Genuardi, M.D., M.P.H., clerkship director, associate dean for student affairs and an associate professor of pediatrics at the UF College of Medicine-Jacksonville, was presented with the inaugural Kenneth Kellner, M.D., Ph.D., Outstanding Clerkship Director Award.

Medical Education Week is sponsored by the Society of Teaching Scholars which mentors junior faculty on teaching improvement and serves in an advisory capacity to the Faculty Development Committee and College of Medicine Education Center.
