Department of medicine faculty publish study on the effect of healthcare provider education

Joe Chehade, M.D., associate professor in the division of endocrinology at the University of Florida College Of Medicine-Jacksonville was the lead author of a study published in the International Journal of Clinical Practice on the effect of healthcare provider education on diabetes management of hospitalized patients.

The study concluded that implementing an educational program for healthcare providers had significant effect on the lowering of mean blood glucose values and the incidence of hyperglycemia, but increased the risk of hypoglycemia.
