UF Health Jacksonville honored for innovation excellence

UF Health Jacksonville has been honored by national health care leader Vizient Inc. with the company’s inaugural Innovation Excellence Award.

The award recognizes UF Health Jacksonville for developing or adopting innovative technology solutions that have enhanced or changed their care delivery models or efficiencies. Vizient Inc., the largest member-driven health care performance improvement company in the country, presented the award during the Vizient Clinical Connections Summit held Sept. 28-30 in Dallas.

“Our organization is always striving to improve the way we manage health care, which in turn helps our patients achieve better outcomes,” said Russ Armistead, CEO of UF Health Jacksonville. “This award shows that we continue to move in the right direction, and I am proud of our faculty and staff who provide outstanding healthcare every day. I’d also like to thank Vizient for recognizing our achievement.”

UF Health Jacksonville faculty and staff received the award in person during the summit in Dallas. Kelly Gray-Eurom, MD, chief quality officer for the organization, says hard work by all of UF Health’s employees has led to much better outcomes.

“We are constantly looking for new, effective ways to help patients, and the best way to measure that is by keeping an eye on our quality data,” said Gray-Eurom. “We believe we’ve done that and the results are undoubtedly moving in the right direction. This recognition by Vizient, singling us out as a health care leader in using innovative technology to help our providers care for our patients, is another example of the amazing work our entire staff is doing.”

To determine the winners of the award, project submissions were evaluated by a panel of innovation industry leaders on criteria that met desirability, feasibility and viability of the solution in the marketplace.

“This award recognizes the creative thinking and innovation that occurs at our member organizations,” said Byron Jobe, president and chief administrative officer of Vizient. "It’s exciting to see how those on the front lines approach the challenges they are facing to better engage patients and improve care. We congratulate UF Health Jacksonville on their achievement.”

Vizient is a combination of VHA Inc., a national health care network of not-for-profit hospitals; University HealthSystem Consortium, an alliance of the nation’s leading academic medical centers; and Novation, the health care contracting company they jointed owned.
