Webb appointed assistant dean for clinical informatics

L. Kendall Webb, MD, associate professor of emergency medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville, has been appointed assistant dean for clinical informatics. Her appointment is retroactive to April 16, 2013, coinciding with her appointment as associate chief medical information officer at UF Health Jacksonville.

In these newly created roles, Webb provides clinical leadership for ASAP, the emergency department component of the Epic electronic health record and patient care software system used by UF Health. Webb proved her abilities in this role as a primary clinical leader in the initial implementation of Epic at UF Health Jacksonville in 2012.

She will lead the effort to help the college and medical center meet federal meaningful-use requirements regarding electronic health records and will support the rollout of changes and upgrades to the system. She will oversee ASAP training, as well.

Webb will work with UF Health leadership and other personnel in Gainesville on developing programs and processes to enhance the application of clinical informatics, with the ultimate goal of improving health care and population wellness. She has a special penchant for usability, throughput and patient safety.

“I congratulate Dr. Webb on her appointment,” said Daniel Wilson, MD, PhD, dean of the College of Medicine – Jacksonville. “We appreciate her commitment and look forward to her continued contributions, support and productivity.”
