Volpe appointed as the new Cancer Liaison Program State Chair

Carmine M. Volpe, M.D., a University of Florida College Of Medicine - Jacksonville assistant professor in the department of surgery and chief of the division of surgery oncology, has been appointed as Cancer Liaison Program State Chair for Florida (zone J) by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Commission on Cancer.
The ACS Commission on Cancer (CoC) is a consortium of professional organizations dedicated to improving survival and quality of life for cancer patients through standard-setting, prevention, research, education, and the monitoring of comprehensive quality care.
As the Commission on Cancer, Cancer Liaison Program State Chair, Dr. Volpe will serve as point of contact for information on the CoC, including such activities as providing assistance with the selection of Cancer Liaison Physicians, coordinating state and local cancer control agencies activities, and assisting with interpretation and use of National Cancer Data Base data for quality improvement.
