American Medical Association annual breakfast

The University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville was honored to host the American Medical Association (AMA) annual breakfast on April 27, 2009. J. James Rohack, M.D., AMA president elect, met with the UF College of Medicine - Jacksonville deans, chairs, residency program directors, and residents. Healthcare reform was the central theme of the session.
Dr. Rohack has been a member of the AMA Board of Trustees since 2001 and served as chair from 2004 to 2005. He also serves as treasurer of the board of commissioners of the Joint Commission, chairs the National Advisory Council to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and is one of the principals of the Hospital Quality Alliance.
Dr. Rohack was introduced to the group by Yank Coble, M.D., a distinguished professor and director of the Center for Global Health and Medical Diplomacy at the University of North Florida and professor at the University of Florida. Coble is past president of The World Medical Association (WMA), president emeritus of the American College of Physicians (ACP) and the former president of the American Medical Association (AMA).
Also in attendance was the President of the Florida Medical Association, Steven R. West, M.D.; senior vice president, E. Russell Jackson, Jr. and treasurer, W. Alan Harmon, M.D.
R. Stephen Lucie, M.D., president and Jay W. Millson, executive vice president/executive director of the Duval County Medical Society were also in attendance.
