Procedures For Visiting Students

Applications will be accepted via Visiting Student Application Service (VSAS) beginning in early April.

Please note we need at least 30 days to process your request.

A visiting student may not displace a University of Florida student from any elective. For this reason, visiting students may not be accepted for an elective until mid-May. Visiting students generally will not be approved for more than one rotation in an academic year at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville.

To participate as a visiting student, you must:

  • Be a fourth year student in good standing at a medical school which is accredited by the COCA or LCME and which is a member, or an affiliated member, of the Association of American Medical Colleges.
  • Have the permission of your academic dean to take an extramural course outside the institution in which you are enrolled.
  • All students must complete all application requirements listed on the UF College of Medicine - Jacksonville VSAS Institution Page. The University of Florida may provide visiting students with malpractice insurance coverage.
  • Wear proper business attire, white laboratory coats, and your home school identification badge if participating in clinical rotations.
