Curriculum

Junior Fellow Rotations
General ID - 9 months
Microbiology & Research - 3 months
HIV Outpatient Continuity Care - Half day/week

Inpatient consultation rotations are spent at Shands Jacksonville. During the first year, 8 weeks are devoted to learning the foundations of clinical microbiology. General infectious diseases are emphasized during the junior training year, with more specialized training during the senior year of the fellowship. Approximately 20 percent of each year is dedicated to research and productive writing.

Senior Fellow Rotations
General ID - 6 months
Outpatient ID Clinics and research (HIV, TB, STD, Travel & Hosp. Infection Control) - 2 months
Transplant ID - 2 months
Pediatric ID - 1 month
MICU - 1 month

Weekly division conferences are held on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, and include board review sessions, case conferences, core ID topic reviews and practice guidelines, TB conferences, journal clubs, HIV topical reviews and research conferences. Fellows are encouraged to attend weekly internal medicine grand rounds on Wednesdays.
