Application Process
The fellowship program includes a total of 15 positions, which, by initial design, are equally distributed among the three training years. Therefore, each incoming class consists of five positions.
Applications for residency must be submitted through ERAS.

Have successfully completed, or will have successfully completed by the date of matriculation, an ACGME-accredited three year residency in internal medicine;
Can document they are ABIM certifying board examination eligible, or are ABIM-IM board certified;
Have the recommendation (written) of their residency training program director for admission to the fellowship program;
Submit a complete and accurate set of application materials (see ERAS Web site for more detail);
Complete a personal interview at the UF College of Medicine Jacksonville with the program director and faculty interviewers;
Qualify according to the prevailing policies and procedures set forth by the University of Florida College of Medicine, UFHSC Jacksonville Office of Educational Affairs and Shands Jacksonville.
Selection Process
From the pool of completed applications, the program director will select those individuals invited for personal interview at the UF College of Medicine Jacksonville campus. Interviews will normally be held between late February and early May using a schedule of dates set by the program director.
Invited applicants will undergo a personal interview with the program director or an individual the program director designates and at least two additional cardiology faculty on site. Each interviewer, who has also reviewed all relevant application materials, will record his/her opinion, scoring applicants in areas including academic credentials, scholastic performance, professionalism, clinical competence, research potential, interpersonal skills, consistency of career plans to the goals and objectives of the program and other areas, which would influence potential for success in the fellowship. Following the entire interview schedule for that class, the Fellowship Committee formally meets with the program director to discuss relative merits of each applicant and compile consensus recommendations. The final decision on ranking is made by the program director.
