Services

The University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism provides evaluation and treatment of individuals 14 years of age and older:

  • Diabetes mellitus
  • Thyroid disorders
  • Lipid disorders
  • Adrenal disorders
  • Pituitary disorders
  • Development disorders
  • Growth disorders
  • Metabolic bone disease-osteomalacia or Paget's disease
  • Osteoporosis
  • Metabolic disorders
  • Kidney stones

Diabetes Education Program
The division also offers a complete self-management education program, which includes a certified diabetic educator. The 8-hour class covers topics like diabetes overview, coping, nutrition, monitoring, medications, sick days and available community resources. Individual or small group sessions include:

  • Insulin instruction
  • Intensive insulin therapy instruction
  • Monitoring and use of results
  • Carbohydrate counting
  • Insulin pump evaluation, training and management
  • Gestational diabetes/pregnancy complicated by diabetes

Dynamic Endocrine Testing
The division provides hormonal testing to assist in the diagnosis of hormonal or metabolic disorders.
