Research
The UF Division of Cardiology in Jacksonville is committed to fostering faculty and fellow research. The division's research can be broken down into three categories - clinical, basic science and cardiovascular imaging.
Clinical research includes sponsored and faculty initiated clinical trials. UF physicians are currently involved in the development of new treatment modalities for heart failure and novel electrophysiology techniques, as well as intramyocardial delivery of gene and stem cell therapy to promote myogenesis and angiogenesis, to name a few.
Basic science research is occurring in the areas of platelet function and progenitor cells.
The cardiovascular imaging core laboratory analyzes intravascular ultrasound, angiography and cardiac MRI images from national and international institutions participating in multi-center clinical trials.
