Large Format Printer - Information
Important: Users are responsible for preparing and printing their own posters!
The Media Center staff is available to assist with printing, but cannot make your poster!
Due to the high volume of poster printing requests for this event, a deadline has been imposed. In order to have your poster ready for hanging in time for the Research Day judging and ceremonies, you are required to turn in your poster to the Media Center via floppy disk or e-mail at least two (2) weeks or ten (10) business days prior to Research Day. If the Media Center does not receive your poster within this time frame, there is no guarantee your poster will be printed in time for the Research Day judging or ceremonies.
The template:
- The poster template is in Microsoft PowerPoint format. Most researchers are familiar with this commonly used program. You may work on your poster on any computer running PowerPoint.
- The template can be downloaded from the Internet (http://www.hscj.ufl.edu/forms/poster_template.ppt - to save the template, right-click on this link and select "Save Target As..."), the Shands Jacksonville intranet (click here - only available from campus computers) or from the Media Center.
- The template will produce a standard 3' x 5' scientific poster. A full size sample print out is in the media center.
- Simply type or copy-and-paste your text and graphics into the appropriate spaces.
- Feel free to add, delete or change any portion of the template to fit your needs and to reflect your own style and taste.
- The print settings are pre-formatted to work with the HP Designjet 750C Plus printer in the media center. Please do not change them.
Printing your poster:
- Go to the Media Center and have the staff assist you with your printing. Be sure to sign the logbook at the media center desk.
- You may bring your work on a floppy disk or email it to the large printer workstation in the media center at media.post@jax.ufl.edu (media.post in the MS Outlook email program on hospital computers).
- Be sure to carefully proof read your draft version on standard size paper before printing your final poster.
- See the instructions posted by the workstation for printing.
- Color drafts may be printed on 8.5" x 11" paper.
- Final large format prints go to the HP Designjet 750C Plus.
Information and Guidelines for Use
The large format printer has been provided by the Dean's Office and the Office of Research Affairs in support of our academic programs.
A log and check-in with the Media Center staff is required in order to access the large format printer. Name, department, phone number and number of posters printed must be provided in the log book.
Fees for UFHSC/J: The large format printer is available to all UFHSC/J programs and colleges for a fee of $45.00 for each poster. Please note that this fee will apply to all posters printed on the large format printer, whether they are draft or final. This fee is for one poster using heavyweight coated paper. For premium, high gloss photo paper, the fee is $60.00 per poster.
The Media Center will host the printer and will provide printing assistance, but is not responsible for producing documents.
Users are responsible for preparing and printing their own documents.
Pre-formatted templates for 3' x 5' scientific posters (Powerpoint format) are available for downloading at the Media Center.
ALL test prints should be performed on a standard sized (color) printer for proof reading prior to final printing. This can be done from the large printer workstation in the media center.
Thank you for your cooperation.
