As a breast imager, I interpret mammography, breast ultrasounds, breast MRIs and perform biopsies of suspicious findings using ultrasound, mammography, and MRI guidance. We use state-of-the-art technologies, such as the digital breast tomosynthesis (3-D mammography). I am proud to be a part of a team where our breast imaging centers are using northeast Florida’s first FDA-approved artificial intelligence software system which not only enhances the accuracy of diagnosis of early and treatable breast cancer but also helps significantly reduce unnecessary testing.
Additionally, I also consult with the breast surgeons and the medical and radiation oncologists regarding appropriate recommendations for necessary imaging and biopsy procedures. Each week I participate in the multidisciplinary tumor board where we review and discuss all newly diagnosed breast cancer patients to provide customized treatment plans based on the breast cancer type, patient’s medical conditions, genetics, and family history. Lastly, as the Quality Assurance Program Director, it is my responsibility to ensure that all of our five imaging centers meet the required national standards.
